Paper Crafts 2013 Gallery Idol Card Contest

There is still plenty of time
if you want to participate in the

You an enter up to 3 cards for Birthday Kids / Teens theme.

I have entered 2 cards so far
(will post them within this post later)

They can be seen in the Paper Crafts 2013 Gallery Idol Group Gallery
in Flickr

This is my first go at entering a contest.
I really think my card rocks for the Entry round.  A little scared if I actually make it in the second round.  The second round you have only 3 days to finalize a card in their theme.
Normally, that is not a problem for me,
however the pressure may bring me to a frazzle.

I had a card design in mind since I first saw the mamalephant stamp set for Good Times.
The image of a cityscape and light rays coming down to a point to the words party like a rock star.
I could see the design I wanted, however the paper choices eluded me.
Once I set color combinations together, I felt a little overwhelmed and underwhelmed by the combinations I tried.

Now I do not like trying, and trying, and trying to make a card design work.
I like it to "pop" come together like it was mean to be.
I will admit that most of my cards that "work" for me, have come together quickly and easily.
The ones that did not work were overworked or over thought out.

The first card I added to the Gallery Idol Flickr Gallery was overworked and I see that if I would have worked with the design of the patterned papers to make all of the triangles angle in more of a cohesive way, it would not confuse the eye as much as it does (subliminally).
Am I too critical, no, I don't think so,
as a creative artist and designer you really want to know what design elements work,
and what works better so you can improve and better your work.
I love constructive comments, truly.
Do I beat myself up - No, I use what I am learning to grow.

I love hearing from you guys out there - some of you really rock as my fans!!!
 I really love your spirit!!!

If I move on to the Second Round, there will be chances to VOTE.
I would LOVE to tell you all to go and vote for me,
more importantly I would like you to go vote for the BEST card, I mean this.
I want my card to win on merit, not on a beg for votes.

So far, I think one of my cards has a pretty good shot to get me to the second round.
Based on the entries so far, one stands out pretty bold.
There are so many great cards artists!!
All I can do is
 hope I can move forward.

Wish me luck....... (thanks)...

Oh my, these cards really are gorgeous and so cleverly designed! Good luck with the Idol contest, I've not entered this before, sounds totally scary and to be honest with all my current commitments and full time shift work I don't know where I could fit it in... is that an excuse I hear? maybe next year lol.
Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS(E) this Sketch this week!

What a truly amazing card for CAS(E) this Sketch! Your use of the star CS to create the swoosh, the little star sequins and the way the background gradually lightens makes for a wonderful card! Thanks for joining us!!
