Back to School BBQ!
Pic with Miss Gramley Conrad's 3rd grade teacher.
We had hotdogs and chatted with Conrad's cub scout leader.
We saw the 3-d design of the future school building.
We gave a bag of food for the "backpack for the hungry" food drive.
We picked up the boxtops for schools info.
And best of all -
Conrad's favorite moment, pitching the first pie that hit the principal in the pie toss!
Priceless!

Cub Scouts!
Well, Monday nights will get fun fast!
Conrad really wants to be in Scouts. So tonight we went to the first meeting. He loved it. He wants to do target practice and archery and all that camping fun. I am sold. We signed him up tonight. I can't wait until he tells his dad. His dad will be so stoked about it.
Ok ladies, tell me what you think of this. I think this bag is "Ridiculous Sick!" (As in Good). I have wanted this bag for over a year! And I still want it, so after finally getting a seller to sell it to me for less than half price..It is mine.
I am not a huge bag and shoe girl, you that are, know what I mean, but this bag, I really think this rocks..
.So tell me honestly, what you think. Am I just delirious?

We went to curriculum night at the school on Thursday. We met Miss Gramley and she explained what the 3rd graders will learn this year. We were encouraged to read their journals and the note that they left on the desks for us.
In Conrad's journal he talked about a "Frindle." Frindle is a book that Miss Gramley is reading aloud to class. The Frindle is a charachter that is a pen.
Conrad says he is trying to have everyone at school change the name of all pens to Frindle..
Kinda Cute.
I thought so too.
So I made him this little envelope for him to find a few Frindle's of his own.
I only named them Friendle's spelling it diffently...

Make a Wish
This week was a roller coaster. All clouds have a silver lining. My recent appointment turned out to not be serious. We also had news that my nephew may stay with us longer than we originally anticipated. Relief and a bittersweet joy.
So what I wish for is the continued blessings that I have. I couldn't ask for more.

Wiener Weekend
Almost everytime I meet someone new around my nephew, he get's pure joy to say,
"You wanna know what my aunt's name is?"
"It is WIENER!"
"it really IS wiener, so it is okay for me to say it."
Hey, it is not a joke, but it is funny and cute, and anytime we can crack up about it like an 8 year old, we do.

The Merrie Ellen
Port Townsend was the port of entry and customs point for the shipping industry back in the day. The builders and town founders believed that Port Townsend would be the shipping capital as they are the "bottle neck" of the Puget Sound. They were intended to be the "Seattle" of the Pacific Northwest with the aide of the Railroad. With these intentions of grandeur all the buildings were fashioned straight from the high style of the New York architecture of that day. The Railroad backed out and Port Townsend met it's end as the reigning customs point as Seattle and Tacoma lobbied to Olympia for the rights of Customs Entry Point, and won.
We learned alot at the Jefferson County Museum. The museum was the courthouse, firestation and the police department and jail. And we were the first ones in as they opened the doors. Which we were grateful as Conrad was "flighty."

For our Wedding Anniversary we have started a tradition to stay at the Palace Hotel, spending the weekend in Port Townsend. We just love it. And there are so many things to do there that we haven't even come close to everything.
Ferry from Edmonds to Kingston and over the Hood Canal Bridge to Port Townsend. As you can see, Conrad was very thrilled to be travelling to Port Townsend this weekend.
